感染・炎症が加速する発がんスパイラルとその遮断に向けた制がんベクトル変換

Overview

Cancer is the most common cause of death in developed countries; every year about seven million people die from this disease worldwide. In this program, we aim to elucidate the roles of immunity and inflammation, two host responses at the molecular level, in the formation and development of cancer caused by an external factor, infection. We also hope to establish innovative preventive and therapeutic principles for controlling these carcinogenic processes and to promptly translate these principles to clinical practice.

Grants-in-Aid for the Scientific Research on Innovative Areas

Grants-in-Aid for the Scientific Research on Innovative Areas is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan to promote new innovative research areas. It finances several research programs, each of which is proposed by a multidisciplinary research group consisting of several subgroups. These subgroups work together to develop a new innovative area of research with the intent of raising the academic standard of Japan through efforts to train prospective researchers and promote collaboration among subgroups. The duration of the program grant is five years and the funding amount is 10-300 million yen per program.
